Review ~ Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone

Synopsis:

If you could read my mind, you wouldn't be smiling.

Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand: Sam has Purely-Obsessional OCD and is consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that she can't turn off.

Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle, and it doesn't help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush. Yet Sam knows she'd be truly crazy to leave the protection of the most popular girls in school. So when Sam meets Caroline, she has to keep her new friend with a refreshing sense of humor and no style a secret, right up there with Sam's weekly visits to her psychiatrist.

Caroline introduces Sam to Poet's Corner, a hidden room and a tight-knit group of misfits who have been ignored by the school at large. Sam is drawn to them immediately, especially a guitar-playing guy with a talent for verse, and starts to discover a whole new side of herself. Slowly, she begins to feel more "normal" than she ever has as part of the popular crowd . . . until she finds a new reason to question her sanity and all she holds dear.

Review:

Every Last Word spoke to me in a way that no one can understand. I'm truly surprised that this book has left a big impact on me after reading it because I didn't expect that it would leave such an impression. Normally, I'd comment on the author's writing style, the characters' developments, etc., but I simply have no words for this one.

All I know is that Every Last Word did something to me that I can't explain, but in a good way. My emotions are all over the place right now because I took this book on a personal level. I didn't relate with the characters, but something about the story and its message hit me somewhere I'm most vulnerable.

I'll certainly recommend this book, but I won't guarantee that it will have the same impact to other readers. I just hope that you'd like it as much as I did.

Flash Giveaway ~ Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone

Hello! *waves* Okay, that was lame. Clearly, I need to think of a more engaging greeting. I'll work on it. Anyway, let's try this giveaway. It'll be my first, and I hope somebody actually sees this post. If no one does, well . . . I guess I'll just have to try again in the future.

So, Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone is on sale for $0.99. I haven't finished reading this book, but from where I am right now it sounds good so far. I loved the first two books by Stone (haven't posted my review; I'm really behind on my blog posts), and I have a feeling this one's going to be good. Since it's on sale and I can actually afford to pay it forward this time, let's do this. Please read the post carefully.
